CHOOSING A ROUTE
Both of the routes on Tour de Lab are excellent tours of Portland. Above all else, this is a fun ride, meant to be an enjoyable tour of Portland and the three Lucky Labrador brew pubs. So please choose a route that suits your riding skill level, comfort and what you're in the mood for on the day of the ride.
CHANGING YOUR ROUTE You may change your route at the start of the event, or at any rest stop, no problem! You do not need to inform us. If you find along the way that you have more or less energy, you may switch routes at the rest stops. Both routes have the same rest stops.
ROUTE MARKINGS Both routes are marked with bright yellow arrows posted at eye level.
THE BIG DOG (30 MILE ROUTE) - AN EXTENDED ROUTE WITH CLIMBING An excellent tour of Portland wtih some major hill climbing and a lot to see along the way. You'll tour Portland's western hilly edges. THE PUPPY - 18 MILES WITH MILD CLIMBING A great tour of urban Portland, 18 miles in length. There are some hills in there, but we've put the major climbing right at the beginning when you have the most energy. The majority of the course is relatrively flat and a great tour of the city! Maps are coming soon.
SE >> SW // 7.5 miles We'll take you over the Hawthorne Bridge, along Broadway and onto Terwilliger for some major climbing into the hills. We'll route you on side streets with climbing before you cruise on in to the first rest stop at the community center across from the Lucky Lab SW, SW 32nd and Terwilliger.
SW >> NW // 7 miles From this awesome high point in Portland, there's nowhere to go but DOWN! And we're sending you on a nice flowy downhill cruise into downtown Portland along Barbur Blvd and through downtown. We'll take you through the side streets of NW to bring you on a mellow ride to the Lucky Lab NW, NW 19th and Quimby.
NW >> SE // 3.5 miles From here, it couldn't be easier! You've only got 3.5 more miles to go along an extremely direct, flat route. We'll send you along Naito Parkway then up over the Hawthorne Bridge to your final rest stop and the finish line party at SE 9th and Hawthorne, the Lucky Lab's most famous location.
